A Little Help

I was really excited when this movie was able to be instantly streamed. I had been wanting to see it and I absolutely love Jenna Fischer! As I watched the movie I had to remind myself that it was like an independent film and it was supposed to be written the way that it was. And that's really saying something for me because I love horrible movies. This one disappointed me because I feel like it was a bit unrealistic. I feel like it just did not drive home the message and picture it was trying to. Like it was almost there and it just missed. And I realize it was supposed to be sad, but I really feel like it was just depressing and never lifted. And maybe that's what the writer was going for, but I didn't appreciate it in this film technique. I gave this movie 3.5 out of 5 stars because it was worth the watch (maybe) but I would never watch it again. For reviews on this movie or to see reviews of other movies please leave a comment. Camp

This is an IFC Film so you can already guess where it's headed. The movie starts out with the introductions of the characters are so confusing because it's like it's trying to be a light and funny but there is a serious song being sung and you watch a kid in drag try to get into prom and be denied. And then he's beat up, but enters the song. And for a second you're like...is he dead? But no, he's singing at the camp. And the entire time you're wondering what his race is because he looks black, but has really light skin, and about 3/4 of the way into the movie he's spanish? Then there's the main boy character, Vlad. He's talking to himself in the mirror and you get this jock impression of him. Then he enters the camp and comes off shy and sings this rock ballad that gets you all excited. And over the course of the movie his character is so confused. It's like he's trying to be two characters at once. And he has the gay kid who got beat up falling in love with him and then he has the main girl character in love with him and you're under the impression that they're a couple? So throughout the movie you're entirely confused about him and I think maybe that's actually the purpose? Then the gay kid who got beat up sleeps with one of the girls in the camp in attempt to get over Vlad? I mean really? What are you trying to show by having him do that? Oh, and not to mention the entire movie is supposed to be about how a previous Broadway writer is a teacher and the kids inspire him while he was down in the dumps, but you never actually get a good look at his character so it's more of a side show in the movie instead of the main plot like the description leads you to believe. This movie is more like a solid attempt at 3 or 4 different styles/genres of movies. They tried way too hard to have too many "relatable" characters that they spend too much time on instead of focusing on the main plot line. And it's almost like a bipolar movie with some of the twists and turns it takes. There is the cameo of Anna Kendrick who actually is fantastic in this movie. She is a diabolical little nerdy girl and she definitely puts a smile on your face. I can't lie, I haven't even finished the movie as I am writing this because I had so much to say. So now the benefit has happened and Vlad has kissed 3 girls and is standing naked in front of Michael, because he was "skinny dipping". Michael's face is perfect because it's like what the hell? What is your problem? This Vlad kid has some major attention issues. And now he's asking the main girl out?! And she said yes? I just...I have no words for this movie. I probably would give it a 2 out of 5 stars. I did not hate it, but I definitely did not like it. Solid effort to these writers though. They tried. 16 To Life

his is a classic Indie film that when you first start watching it you're thinking to yourself, "Where is this headed?". My advice to you, if you are an indie film watcher, is to keep going. This is a classic coming of age story that reminded me of a book I read by Rachel Hawthorne when I was a teenager. This young girl is working in an icecream shop for the summer in the small town where she lives. She likes to read books and seems a bit of a nerd when you first are introduced to her. It's her 16th birthday and she's never been kissed. You get to see the other colorful characters working in the shop with her, including the shop owner and her sad excuse for a son. The ending is pretty typical, she gets kissed, but the process of the fun summer movie is quite enjoyable. I watched it twice! My Girlfriend's Boyfriend

This movie is a great romantic movie to watch on your own with a big bowl of popcorn and ice cream. This movie isn't your typical romance; it holds a bit of suspense and the ending is a twist that you do not expect at all. I've always loved Alyssa Milano and she does great for her character. And the main guy character is the new type of geek that women everywhere are falling for now. He was adorkable and charming. And Jesse's little brother and his commercial issues provide the perfect amount of comedy to keep things light-hearted. I can't say too much more without giving the movie away, but I must say I certainly recommend it to all of my female readers. Even if you are not into romance movies (which I am not) you will certainly enjoy this one! I guarantee it! For more movie reviews, please leave some comments below.
