16 To Life

his is a classic Indie film that when you first start watching it you're thinking to yourself, "Where is this headed?". My advice to you, if you are an indie film watcher, is to keep going. This is a classic coming of age story that reminded me of a book I read by Rachel Hawthorne when I was a teenager. This young girl is working in an icecream shop for the summer in the small town where she lives. She likes to read books and seems a bit of a nerd when you first are introduced to her. It's her 16th birthday and she's never been kissed. You get to see the other colorful characters working in the shop with her, including the shop owner and her sad excuse for a son. The ending is pretty typical, she gets kissed, but the process of the fun summer movie is quite enjoyable. I watched it twice!
